Team / Division Description
The Kansei Design Department (KD) is part of the R&D Group at Toyota Motor Europe in Zaventem, Belgium. Its area of responsibility include:
Kansei Design Research, Innovation & Advanced Development (Kansei Competency Centre).
Prospective User centric strategy & analysis (User Experience, Interaction Design, HMI) supported by innovative agile process, and idea generation towards proof of concept, for quick decision making.
Innovation driven by holistic and cognitive approach through Sensory stimuli (Visual, Light, Sound, Touch…) supported by the creation of strategic tools & methodologies.
Product power reinforcement through Grade & Character strategy. Collaboration & application into new models with Project Direction, Long Term strategy, Product Planning, Marketing & Accessories for new models and life-cycle management.
Real-world effectiveness implementation and evaluation by Kansei process application into future models, bridging Sensory Quality-Concept (SQ-C) with Sensory Quality-Execution (SQ-E)
Responsibilities:
1 – Sensory Quality Concept (SQ-C)
You will manage SQ-Concept, from strategy to application, by cross-functional collaborations with Long Team strategy/ Product planning and R&D Project & functional divisions.
You will develop and lead a qualitative SQ-C process flow, and secure all Kansei items before and during important project milestones, within efficient bridge with SQ-E team.
2– Innovation driven by Kansei
You will study and propose innovative concepts, by conducting technology trend-watch, and by predicting prospective directions on future mobility, in order to generate breakthrough ideas.
You will initiate, monitor and participate to experience scenarios generation and low-tech prototype creation towards “proof of concept”, as support for quick decision making
3 – Increase Kansei Design Research capability, reputation and network
You will participate in Academic research projects and actively contribute to infuse within Toyota experience-based approach in their job responsibility.
You will increase Toyota’s visibility and reputation through high-level publications
Profile:
You have a Master degree in Engineering or Design specialised in innovation, a PhD specialization in a discipline close to cognitive sciences is an asset.
You have minimum 5 years of experience in Kansei Design or close fields (Research in design, Design thinking…) e.g. Kansei Engineering or Kansei Science.
You have good knowledge in Kansei Engineering & Design Research.
You are experienced in User-Centric approach.
You can manage statistical analysis software, as well as Adobe suite.
You have some skills for low-tech prototyping (such as Arduino)
You are fluent in English (TME business language).
