The Description and The Role:
We are currently recruiting for an experienced Control System Engineer to join our fast growing and highly successful team .  This role is site based with frequent travel throughout our Northern Europe Region which covers UK, Benelux and Scandinavia.
The Control System Engineer is a key member of the TGW Controls Team with involvement in the entire project lifecycle.  They are responsible for the development and commissioning of  all PLC level control systems for our automated materials handling solutions.  Interacting with Engineers, Designers and Clients at our UK Head Office and at various installation sites across the region, they help ensure that we always meet our customers’ requirements. 
Responsibilities:

  • Participate in the production of concepts, designs and system upgrade specifications
  • Ensure that designs meet all relevant regulations and codes of practice
  • Assist in the management of controls sub-contractors
  • Consult with design team on device layout, agree and freeze electrical design
  • Develop and produce control systems functional specifications
  • Develop electrical and software solutions using the standard TGW architecture and software blocks (based on Siemens S7)
  • Develop with 70% standard TGW code and 30% customised code
  • Pull together software architecture
  • Create in-house software test schedule
  • In-house software testing
  • Assist and lead site software commissioning and handover testing of in-house and sub contract controls solutions
  • Provide support for electrical and software systems to our clients throughout the life of the installation
Requirements:
  • Ability to design/develop PLC code ideally using Siemens S7 (300/400) software
  • STL, FBD and/or Ladder programming knowledge
  • Previous experience of working with motion control via servo drives
  • Good understanding of networking ideally using Profibus, Profinet, Ethernet or Asi
  • Previous experience of commissioning and testing in an engineering environment
  • Ability to read and understand electrical schematics and panels drawings – E Plan
  • Understanding of the link between PLC systems and other IT systems such as WCS
  • Knowledge of functional safety programming
  • Relevant qualification in electrical/mechanical engineering
  • Prepared to travel regularly throughout the TGW Northern Europe Regio
