Reporting to the Laboratory Manger, primary responsibilities include transcription/editing of dictated reports by medical staff. The reports transcribed/edited are as follows: history and physicals, emergency department, consultations, operative reports, radiology reports, discharge summaries, oncology reports, occupational health reports, and clinic notes. Interacts with medical staff, nursing, ancillary departments, and provider offices. High School diploma or equivalent is required. Course work completion in transcription/editor program or two years experience as trained medical transcriptionist/editor. Demonstrated clerical skills including transcription/editor experience, word processing, ability to accurately type 60 wpm required. Must be knowledgeable of proper grammar and punctuation with the ability to construct grammatically correct sentences. Must be detail-oriented, organized, and capable of making decisions. Professional oral and written skills required, includes face to face, email, and phone conversation. Ability to use voice recognition systems and hospital and clinic computer system.
